living-in-australiaAlthough I like to sleep, I am generally a light sleeper. By that, I mean I am awaken easily by movements and noises. Having moved to Perth however, my bedroom faces the public road. I sleep next to window in the front of the house and about 10 metres from the public road. However, I am eternally thankful that I have never had better sleep where I am than I have ever had in my entire life!

It takes all three of my kids no more than 10 minutes to get to public schools by themselves. I take however 5 minutes to drive to Kmart, Woolworth, Coles and all the major banks and shops and 15 minutes into the centre of the city.

A large part of my time is spent doing stuff around the garden and house with most time devoted to feeding myself and the family.

I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors, but although the river is 10 minute-walk away, I prefer the taste of the catching my own fish in the Indian Ocean which is 15 minute-drive away.

My 6-bedroom-house sits on 870sm of land which when I purchased near the top of Perth’s property boom, is roughly the same price as a 1200sf private apartment in Singapore at the same time.

My cost of living in Perth is lower than Singapore. My family and I are all much happier at making the move
